You Don't Want an Exodus Moment
I have been a full Bible believer since 2007. A lot of emphasis has been placed on the retelling of the ancient story of the first Exodus. The ancient story is important so that our children, and we do not forget what God has done, what patterns of behavior we could easily fall into, and just how easily God can change the course of history. Yet this year I humbly ask you to make the ancient story of the first Exodus your present story.
If you are being honest you have some sort of slavery/bondage in your life. It might be money, sexual addictions, substance addictions, pride, demonic oppression, or the laundry list of tactics and distractions that our flesh worships more than we worship God. You are a liar if you say you have no bondage/slavery.
For two years I was in bondage. I was in bondage while working full-time for the kingdom of God. This shouldn’t surprise anyone. Churches, ministries, and people who love the Lord often find themselves fighting against the calling of the Lord and the calling of the expectations of broken and hurt people. Ministries are run by broken and hurt people. You shouldn’t expect anything different. After all it was all of our sins that murdered Jesus. The bondage was from being caught in a conflict between the calling of the Lord and the expectation of man. Many times the expectation of man wins. There are tactics, marketing, informal lines of communication, etc to convey a message that is actually counter to reality. It is also counter to the commands of Yeshua. It promotes a fleshly atmosphere where men and plans are more important than the calling and protection of the sheep. There is very little room for what God wants, and the organizational plans triumph over the fruit of the Holy Spirit.
For whatever reason God was extremely gracious to me. I didn’t deserve His grace (sound familiar) yet He still gave it. He gave me an Exodus moment. One I had no say in. I just had to trust and obey. Since submitting to Christ’s will in this recent Exodus I have experienced nothing but peace, joy, and excitement for what God is doing. I just had to trust, obey, and get out of the way. All of which shouldn’t have been hard, but were an extreme cutting to the core. As followers of Christ can we actually submit that we are not our own, and so we can’t control God.
So full circle. The ancient story is still being played out today and God is still attempting to remove you from slavery. Attempting to keep the commandments of God in your own power doesn’t equal freedom. It is actually more bondage. Being set free is something only God can do.
“Stand back and see your salvation. The Lord will do it, you cannot, the slavery/bondage you see today you will never see again.” -Paraphrasing Exodus 14:13
So as we enter into the Spring Feasts, what bondage do you need to be delivered from that you think you are hiding from God? What Exodus are you missing that God wants to do for you? What expectation of man is winning out over the calling of the Lord on your life? Yeshua didn’t die so that you could be average. He died so that you could be made into the whole of what He created you to be. God doesn’t make average, He makes perfection……. The real question is why is your slavery more important to you than your deliverance? It’s time to confess, repent, and lay it down. Don’t walk into Passover with a plot to sell the power of Jesus to the world for a couple of shekels and a shirt similar to what Judas did. God wants you to have your Exodus moment, do you want it?
